Bears players expected to take a huge jump this season

Organized team activities are well underway which means training camp is right around the corner! Bears fans have a lot to look forward to after a tremendous season last year. Before we get to training camp, I will discuss some players who have left fans wanting more and who will be asked to take their games to a new level this upcoming season.

Adam Shaheen, Tight end

Shaheen has dealt with injuries throughout his tenure with the Bears and his development has been hindered by that. He needs to have a productive year to help take the Bears offense to even greater heights in year two under Coach, Matt Nagy. The opportunity will be there as the receiving corps is about as deep as it’s ever been. With more attention on keeping receivers and running backs in check, the tight end position could be a group that thrives this year. Burton is also recovering from off-season surgery and Shaheen will need to step up in case he is not ready once the season starts.

Mitchell Trubisky, Quarterback

Even though he has made strides in his development, many look at Trubisky to be the reason why the Bears won’t reach their potential and ultimately not win a Super bowl. In year three, it’s on Trubisky to take an even bigger step and lead this offense who have more weapons to territory Bears fans have not seen in quite some time. Trubisky has been feeling more confident now that he has been in the system for a season now. That can only lead to improved play from Mitch and the offense! It’s expected that the defense may take a step back after losing defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio so the offense will have to pull their weight and help provide some scoring to negate any regression from the defense.

Leonard Floyd, Outside Linebacker

Leonard Floyd has shown flashes and this has been the healthiest he’s been since being drafted by the Bears. This year he needs to put everything together and shoot for 15 sacks. He’s the most gifted pass rusher after Khalil Mack and I think we will see the player who Ryan Pace traded up for a few years back show that he will be a force not only for the Bears, but the entire NFL.

Whoever the kicker is

The Bears have made an effort to improve the kicker position after the struggles last season with Cody Parker. It hasn’t gone well as many may have hoped but whoever wins the job will have a lot of pressure every time they line up.

Who else needs to step up this season for the Chicago Bears?
