Bears v Packers reaction

Well, this is very fun to say. The Chicago Bears are the Champions of the NFC North division! It’s been a long time since Bears fan could say that but the time is finally here, they’re headed to the playoffs! Even more fitting, the victory came against rival Green Bay!

Throughout the week, spirits were high, but everyone knew the real test would be against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. A team that has owned the Bears in the past. Almost like Lebron in the Eastern Conference in the NBA, Aaron Rodgers has been a thorn in the side of Bears fan for quite some time.

What I liked

Mitch bounced back

In last week’s game, Trubisky showed considerable rust, throwing three interceptions in his first game back from injury. Luckily, the Bears defense picked up Trubisky and they were able to get the win despite his poor play. In the game against Green Bay, Trubisky looked better and threw for two touchdowns.

Run game starting to find a rhythm

All season I have been hoping to see the run game produce more and though they didn’t put up huge numbers, you can see Nagy looked to get Jordan Howard going early in games. The games first score was a Jordan Howard run, which had to feel good for the offense!

Khalil Mack getting after Rodgers

In the first game against Green Bay, Khalil Mack played sparingly as he had only been with the Bears for a little over a week. He looked gassed in the second half of that game but in this one, he looked really good getting to Rodgers three times including sacking Rodgers with his back! He’s been tremendous and the Bears pass rush as a whole is starting to get going to with Leonard Floyd looking fully recovered from his injuries and sacking Rodgers twice himself!

What I didn’t like

Still getting a bit too cute with the trick plays

On the Bears lone turnover in the game, Tarik Cohen and Jordan Howard fumbled during the exchange on an option play that led to the Packers taking over when the Bears could’ve at least scored a field goal on the possession. Like the old saying goes, if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it! It was third and one to go, just a simple handoff would’ve been nice!

Eddie Jackson getting hurt

It was a roller coaster of emotion as Safety, Eddie Jackson picked off Aaron Rodgers in the end zone, snapping his record streak of completions without an interception and then seeing him limp off of the field. His status as of right now is not clear as he sprained his ankle. He has been big for the secondary this year, the Bears have already lost Bryce Callahan, losing Jackson would be a huge blow for the defense!

Overall, this was a great win for the Bears and now onto San Fransisco next!
