1 Patrick Mahomes, Quarterback, Kansas City Chiefs
Not much left to be said about Mahomes. He has been amazing and is clearly playing the best football at the most important position. He faces a tough test in Denver this upcoming week against Von Miller and the Broncos.
2 Drew Brees, Quarterback, New Orleans Saints
I have to admit, I have felt that Brees had lost a bit from the days when he was on top of game and arguably the best Quarterback. That all changed after his performance against the Falcons. Brees lit up the Atlanta D and brought home the victory in overtime!
3 Ryan Tannehill, Quarterback, Miami Dolphins
With the poor performances of some players from last weeks list, I looked deep and found that Ryan Tannehill from the Dolphins is quietly putting together a very solid season and with the Dolphins at 3-0, it’s only right that he gets some love. He can climb higher if they win their divisional matchup against Tom Brady and the Patriots on Sunday in Foxboro.
4 Matt Ryan, Quarterback, Atlanta Falcons
Matty Ice is looking like the player he was back in 2016 early to start the year. His play has been phenomenal after a dud in week one against the Eagles. If not for Drew Brees heroic play, Ryan’s Falcons would be 2-1.
5 Aaron Rodgers, Quarterback, Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers tried to work his magic again but drops by receivers and an off day from his defense prevented the Packers from bouncing back after tying the previous week against Minnesota.
Rookie of the Year
1 Saquon Barkley, Running back, New York Giants
Barkley had another nice outing against the Texans in a win. Totaling 128 total yards from scrimmage and a touchdown.
2 Denzel Ward, Corner back, Cleveland Browns
Denzel Ward has been very impressive to start the year. Mayfield, who will also be listed is getting much of the attention but Ward has been a pleasant surprise for a now feared defensive unit for Cleveland.
3 Darius Leonard, Linebacker, Indianapolis Colts
Leonard continues to be a tackling machine and leads the league in tackles so far through three weeks.
4 Josh Allen, Quarterback, Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen looked very impressive against the Vikings. Finding the endzone three times, one through the air and two on the ground. This was his best game of the season and one that could give Bills fan hope for the future.
5 Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Cleveland Browns
If you had a chance to witness the events that took place when the Browns played last Thursday, you can understand why Cleveland felt that Mayfield was their guy. Mayfield oozes charisma and looked poised like he’d been playing for 10 years. He was very accurate and decisive with his throws. The Browns looked like totally different team once he was inserted. I’ll be interested so see how they play with him under center going forward!
